Program
We start by meeting in front of the Brunells Bakery, a fancy and famous bakery in the Born that has some of the best croissants in town. They have an oven still in use after more than 100 years. We will grab an amazing croissant and sweet there before we take a short walk to our next stop.
Next up we will stop by a classic cookie maker in the center of town, Colmena Bakery. Specializing in classic cookies and chocolates this will just be a quick stop for a taste or two to see some more examples of local favorites. We will take them with us to see the famous wall that surrounds the city which is right next door.
From there we will head to the famous Petrixol street for a very special Spanish style hot chocolate with whipped cream and a few crunchy churros. This is a spot everyone in town knows you can get the best flavor in town!
Next up is a Barcelona classic in the Escribà pastry shop. One of Barcelona's most respected bakeries, it is well known for its quality and creativity. With its modernist interior and spectacular display of sweets the Escriba Pastry Shop is a lovely and classic stop on our way. Since we are right next to the boqueria we will walk through the world famous Boqueria Market and see all kinds of local food products and sweets on display as well.
Finally we will walk into the Raval district, this neighborhood is characterized as being a true melting pot of cultures and has the food to prove it. A myriad of grocers and food importers line the streets in some parts of this area selling spices, grains and much more from the Middle East, far east and north Africa. Our first stop will be a dip into an Arabic bakery where we will sample the cookies as well.
We finish with a sampling of the cooking we have purchased, a great view of the city stating with a ride up to the top of the Hotel Barceló Raval. Take a walk around the 360 degree terrace and get a feel for the layout of the city with great views of the famous Montjuïc mountain, Port of Barcelona and the gothic district stretching out along the edge of the port.
